Somewhere on a Thai forum, a thread has been asking the same question for the better part of a decade: someone got a quote for a wall mural, and would like to know whether it's expensive. The replies say, in essence, it depends. It always depends. If you've ever tried to pin down a custom wallpaper mural cost in Thailand, you know that thread. You may have written one like it. So here is what actually moves the price of a made-to-measure mural — and, because we think you shouldn't have to message anyone to find out, our whole pricing model, printed in public.

Why you can't google a mural price in Thailand

Try it. Most Thai custom-print shops publish no prices at all. You'll find catalogues with thousands of designs, each one ending in the same instruction: add us on LINE for a quote. Then you wait, and you wonder whether the number that comes back has anything to do with the number your neighbour was quoted.

The rare vendor who does publish a rate tends to attach an asterisk or three. Installation is included, except wall preparation. Travel is charged per kilometre. For upcountry jobs, you may find yourself paying for the installer's hotel — which is a lot of intimacy for a piece of wallpaper.

International cost guides don't help either. They price in dollars, with American labour rates baked in, which makes them roughly as useful to a reader in Bangkok as a snow-tyre review.

The result is that the forum threads stay open, the quotes stay private, and everyone quietly suspects they paid too much.

The four things that actually move the price

Strip away the mystery and any custom mural's price comes down to four things.

• Material. The biggest lever by far. A smooth matte paper and a deep-textured vinyl are different products at different rates, and choosing between them changes the total more than anything else you'll decide.
• Wall area. Murals are priced by the square metre, so a four-metre living room wall simply costs more than a nursery alcove. No surprises there — though it's worth checking whether a quote is for your wall's exact area or a rounded-up one.
• Installation labour. If someone hangs it for you, you're paying for their time, their travel and their ladder. This is where most hidden costs live.
• Panels and waste. Large murals print as vertical panels sized to the material's roll width. An awkward wall can mean an extra panel that's mostly trimmed away — printed, paid for, binned.

That's the whole list. Anyone quoting you a mural is doing arithmetic on those four things; they're just not always showing their working.

Our whole pricing model, in public

Here is ours, in full.

• Your wall's exact area, times the material's rate. You enter width and height in centimetres (we take walls from 50 to 600 cm wide and 50 to 400 cm tall), and the price is that exact area multiplied by the rate per square metre. No rounding up to whole square metres — you pay to the centimetre. Each material shows its rate per square metre on the materials page.
• A small trim margin on every edge, which you are not charged for. We add it to the print file so the pattern reaches your wall with no white gaps at the edges. It's on the print spec, not on your bill.
• A minimum order of ฿1,500. If your goods total comes in under that, the difference appears as its own labelled line — not smuggled into a mysteriously rounder price.
• Optional professional installation, at ฿2,000 for the first 10 square metres and ฿150 per square metre after that, per order — a flat rate across greater Bangkok. Outside the metropolitan area we can often arrange a fitter through local partners on request, at rates that vary by area, so ask us and we'll see what we can do.
• Delivery at a flat ฿250 anywhere in Thailand, free once your goods subtotal reaches ฿3,500 (installation doesn't count towards that).

Every line is itemised at checkout. If the soft greens of Wild Fern Garden are going on your bedroom wall, you'll see exactly what the mural costs, what delivery costs, and what — if anything — else. Nothing depends. Nothing is on request.

The price you watch is the price you pay

On any design page — say Misty Mountains, fading pale and blue across a living room — you type your wall's width and height in centimetres and watch the price update as you type. Here's the part we're genuinely pleased with: the same pricing code that draws that number in your browser runs again on our server at checkout. The figure you watched settle while you measured the wall is, to the satang, the figure you pay. There is no moment where a human looks at your order and decides what it should really cost.

Because everything is printed to order, at your measurements, we can't take change-of-mind returns — your wall size is unlikely to fit anyone else's wall. If something arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 14 days and we reprint or refund. Production takes 2–3 working days, delivery another 2–4, so plan on about 5–7 days door to door. Questions we hear a lot

Why is there a minimum order?

A mural is printed to order whatever its size, and a very small print carries the same setup as a large one. Rather than inflate the per-metre rate for everyone, we set a ฿1,500 minimum per order — and if your total falls short, the top-up shows as its own labelled line, so you can see precisely what you're paying and why.

Does the price include hanging it?

The mural price doesn't, no — and most of our customers hang it themselves. Large walls arrive as numbered panels cut to the material's roll width, and two people with a spirit level typically have it up in an hour or two. If you'd rather not, the installation add-on covers greater Bangkok at that flat rate, and for other provinces we can often arrange a fitter through local partners on request.

What about my own photo?

Catalogue designs price instantly online. Uploading your own image — a photograph, a painting, a child's drawing you'd like at wall scale — is currently arranged over LINE, where we check the resolution and quote it properly before anything is printed. We'd rather be honest that this part isn't self-service yet than pretend otherwise.

That decade-old thread deserved a straight answer, so here is ours: the price is your wall's area times a rate you can read before you've spoken to anyone.
