Canvas wallpaper, for murals that should read as artwork

฿990/m²printed to your wall size

Canvas gives a mural the weave and depth of a stretched painting rather than the flatness of a printed sheet. It is the finish to choose when the design is meant to be looked at — a landscape, a painterly abstract, a piece you would have framed if it were smaller — and it is one of our three statement finishes.

What it is

A fine-art canvas texture, printed to your wall's exact measurements in centimetres and hung with paste. The weave catches light unevenly on purpose: that is what stops a large flat colour field looking like a poster, and it gives brushwork somewhere to sit. It reads as a matt surface from across a room, which is why it holds up under downlights and beside windows where a glossier finish would glare.

Which walls it suits

Statement walls rather than every wall in a room: a dining room, a stair landing, the wall behind a bed, a reception area. Because it is a paste-up material it is more forgiving of a surface that is not perfectly flat than the peel-and-stick finishes, and it lasts longer, but taking it down later is a proper job. Existing wallpaper must come off first. A wall that takes hours of strong direct sun will fade any printed colour eventually, canvas included.

Living with it

Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Canvas is a matt, textured finish, so it prefers a dry cloth on its own to a damp wipe — nothing abrasive, no scouring pads and no solvent cleaners. If colour accuracy matters to you, and on a canvas texture it usually does, order a free A4 printed sample of your design on canvas first and look at it against the wall it is going on, in your own light. Greens and deep blues in particular shift more between a screen and a painted wall than people expect.

Before you order

Measure the widest and tallest points of the wall in centimetres and enter those on the design page. We print to your figures and add a trim margin on every edge, included in the price you see. Canvas is a paste-up material, so the wall wants to be clean, dry and free of old wallpaper before anything goes on it. Tell us about the wall when you order and we will say if it needs preparation first.
